In the last 7 days, the NFT markets have built on the momentum of recent weeks!

There has been more than $177 million in sales in the last 7 days, an increase of 16.83%. The number of NFT buyers and transactions are also up, increasing by 36.24% and 19.33% respectively!

Since its launch last week, the digital collectibles collection by former US president Donald Trump has garnered a lot of attention and sales. The NFT collection made up of 45,000 individual collectibles was sold out for $4.45 million within a day of launching. In the last 7 days, the collection has amassed a sales volume of more than $9 million - only behind Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC).

Following their world cup victory, a slew of NFT collections and fan tokens related to the Argentine team have enjoyed big gains. Elsewhere, a new NFT collection by NBA Legend Scottie Pippen has broken the OpenSeas sales record after selling out in just 77 seconds!

NFT marketplace Magic Eden has announced the debut of its Magic Eden Prizes program, which will enable collectors to build their own profiles across wallets and get rewards immediately.

The new rewards program will allow buyers to gain Magic Points on secondary trading transactions and spend money. Based on how much a collector spends, they will be assigned to one of five membership tiers, each with its own set of reward advantages and cost savings.

The initial beta test of rewards will be accessible before the end of the year, with the awards eventually becoming available as NFTs in the Prizes Hub and being transferred directly to users’ accounts.  Since this is a test version, all customers can presently create their own accounts; however, pilot prizes will be available later this month.

The CTO of Meta’s Reality Labs, Andrew Bosworth, has stated that the company could spend up to 20% of its 2023 expense budget on its metaverse business.

The figure is also backed by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who stated earlier this month that despite the widespread criticism of Meta’s “massive” investment in the metaverse, the company only commits 20% of its resources to develop the metaverse.

If indeed Meta dedicates 20% of its 2023 expense budget to the metaverse, that would equate to about $19 billion according to a research note published by Radio Free Mobile’s Dr Richard Windsor.

Reality Labs’ costs and expenses totalled about $10.8 billion in the first three quarters of 2022, for a net loss of about $9.4 billion. However, Bosworth thinks that the scepticism attached to the metaverse business is overblown, citing challenges to Meta’s core business and the current business climate as contributing factors.
